N4 shooting victim identified as Mbombela marathon club secretary

Biker clubs have paid tribute to one of the women who died in a hail of bullets on the N4, after her identity was made known.

One of the victims of Sunday’s double murder on the N4 close to Alzu Petroport between Middelburg and Mbombela has been identified as Ayanda ‘Ayos’ Ngobeni from Mbombela.

The other victim is yet to be formally identified.

Ngobeni was one of the founding members of the City of Mbombela Marathon Club. She also served on the marathon club’s exco as deputy secretary.

According to information received, Ngobeni was at a biker rally in eMalahleni before heading home in a white BMW, eyewitnesses at the rally say. Inside the car with her was the second murder victim and an unknown driver.

The vehicle allegedly belongs to a third woman who gave permission for the unidentified man to take the women home.

Both women were found with multiple gunshot wounds inside the vehicle.

The driver was, however, not on the scene.

Various biker clubs have also paid tribute to the late Ngobeni as news of her death surfaced.
