Apart from Ramaphosa, today’s funeral is expected to draw senior government officials, diplomats, members of the clergy, and representatives from the arts and security sectors, all of whom worked closely with Mthethwa during his years of public service.

Mthethwa died after falling from the 22nd floor of a Paris hotel. He was serving as South Africa’s ambassador to France at the time of his death.

While investigations into Mthethwa’s death are continuing, a preliminary report by French authorities concluded that no foul play is suspected.
