National roads agency announces toll increase
Toll tariff hike to cause further strain for motorists as Sanral announces a need to maintain infrastructure.
Even more financial strain is set to hit motorists as the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) announces the adjustment of toll tariffs from March 1.
The annual increase is set to be 6.25% – lower than last year’s 6.58%.
Sanral said the increase is needed for the continued maintenance and operation of toll infrastructure, and to ensure quality road infrastructure is implemented.
“Sanral is empathetic to the South African public, considering the current state of the economy. However, it is equally important to introduce the adjustments to ensure the agency continues to deliver safe and quality roads to the benefit of all road users,” said Sanral general marketing and communications manager Vusi Mona.
