One of two Joburg women ‘gang raped’, boyfriends drowned

Cleveland police are investigating two counts of murder and one count of rape after an alleged gang rape involving a gang of 12 men at Rhodes Park in Kensington, east of Johannesburg.

Cleveland police spokesperson Constable Mpho Mashakane said: “Two men, accompanied by their girlfriends, were walking at the park at about 6.30pm yesterday when they were approached by the group of men.”

He added one man carried a firearm and a second man carried a knife, Joburg East Expressreported.

The two men, who had visited the park with their girlfriends, were tied up with their clothes and thrown into the lake.

“One of the suspects raped one female victim. The bodies of the two male victims, aged 25 and 32, were later found by police divers,” said Mashakane.

Investigations are ongoing.

This after a 50-year-old woman and her three daughters were allegedly gang raped in Jouberton near Klerksdorp, North West.

Police spokesperson Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the woman was allegedly rape on Saturday in Extension 14, Jouberton.

“It is alleged that on Saturday, 22 August 2015 at about 1am, a 50-year-old woman was asleep with her children at their place at Extension 14 when she heard someone kicking the door. She woke up and saw three unknown males inside her bedroom. The suspects allegedly switched on the light and she managed to see that they were armed with knives,” he said.

According to Mokgwabone, they suspects allegedly ordered her to undress and took her to the sitting room where one of them raped her. She was then taken to the bedroom where she was allegedly gang raped together with her three daughters, aged between 6 and 18, in the presence of her two sons who were threatened with knives.

“The suspects allegedly took households properties and other goods such as cosmetics, clothes and a cellphone to the value of R6,000 before leaving the place. The matter was reported to the police who worked hard and that paid off when the three suspects were eventually arrested. They were charged with house robbery and rape.
