Over 450 people arrested across Pretoria over the weekend

With the festive season approaching, the Tshwane district police conducted high-density operations in parts of Pretoria this weekend.
The multi-disciplinary operations across the district were aimed at curbing criminal activities and were led by Major-General Hilda Mohajane.
The operations saw more than 450 people arrested for various crimes,
said spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe.
“These operations were executed by various role-players such as Tshwane metro police and other law enforcement agencies and were carried out through roadblocks, stop and searches, compliance inspections at businesses, including liquor outlets.
“More than 17 illegal liquor businesses were closed and five hijacked vehicles were recovered,” Selepe said.
“Ten suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs, and more than 438 suspects were arrested and fines issued for crimes such as driving under the influence of alcohol, consumption of alcohol in public areas, attempted murder, business/house robberies, rape, assault and kidnapping among others,” Selepe said.
Mohajane expressed her appreciation towards the commitment displayed by the law enforcers, saying that they must operate in a manner to the extent that criminals would find it impossible to operate.
