Phala Phala accused back in court

Around US$580 000 (around R10m) was stolen from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm.

Froliana Joseph, David Joseph, and Imanuwela David appeared in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The case relates to the theft of around US$580 000 (around R10m) stolen from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm.

The state requested for the postponement, and according to Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the spokesperson for the Limpopo NPA, the request is being made for the finalisation of further investigations.

Senior state advocate Nkhetheni Munyai asked that the case be postponed so that further investigations can be carried out that include third parties such as cellphone records and video footage. He also mentioned that more suspects are currently out of the country.

Dzhangi added that they will request extradition from Namibia in order to get two more suspects.

The Joseph siblings and David were arrested in 2023 with three charges of burglary and theft. David is also charged with money laundering.

The Joseph siblings received bail on November 10 last year, while David’s application for bail was denied on December 8. He will remain in police custody.

The trio’s case was postponed to April 26.
