Police launch manhunt after Pick ‘n Pay robbery
No arrests have been made after three armed suspects robbed a Pick ‘n Pay manager and a security guard at gunpoint in the manager’s office in White River, Mpumalanga.
Provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Mark Magadlela said the two victims were forced to the ground while the robbers demanded the keys to the safe on Wednesday, White River Post reported.
“The suspects allegedly managed to unlock the safe before fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. The manager followed the suspects and noted down that their getaway car was a white Volkwager Golf 5 with registration number HDY257GP,” added Magadlela.
Police urge anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Grobbie Grobbler on 082-455-6591.
Last month a Markham store in the Vryheid CBD, KwaZulu-Natal, was allegedly robbed.
Provincial police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said the suspects walked into the retail store and held the manager and two employees at gunpoint at about 10.45am.
The victims were tied up using duct tape, and the manager was told to hand over the keys to the safe. It is alleged the suspects made off with R20 862 in cash and cellphones and tablets worth of R10 000.
Zwane said no injuries were sustained during the incident. A case of business robbery was opened at Vryheid Police Station, and no arrest had been made.
