Police reveal disturbing details about body found in Winklespruit, KZN
Police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a man was found near a retirement home in KZN.
Shocking details about the body found at Residentia Mooi Hawens in Winklespruit have been confirmed by Amanzimtoti police, suggesting the man was beaten to death.
Amanzimtoti police spokesperson captain Charlene van der Spuy said that on April 9 police were alerted to a body found next to the Mooi Hawens retirement home. Police are investigating a case of murder.
Body found by security guard
“On arrival, they found the body of an unknown white male around 26-years-old. The deceased was found lying on his back, half naked. It was evident that he was brutally assaulted and had visible injuries all over his body. It is alleged the deceased was last seen at the front gate of the retirement home.”
Van der Spuy said the man asked a security guard for water and to make a phone call after which he walked away.
He was found around 06:00 by another security guard while he was doing patrols.
Mooi Hawens CEO Joe Duvenage previously told South Coast Sun the facility has since employed an additional guard to increase patrols at night and have launched a full safety assessment.
