Pothole patrols return to Sandton after 10 years
The unique data driven initiative by Discovery and Dialdirect insurers in collaboration with the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has relaunched after 10 years.
Dialdirect and Discovery insurers have relaunched the pothole patrol initiative after 10 years.
In collaboration with the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), the unique data driven initiative took to the streets of Sandton at the official launch on 3 May on the corner of William Nicol and Sandton drives.

The initiative is designed to repair potholes and make the roads safer for all residents.
“The pothole patrols will prioritise roads that are more frequently used, impacting more users and thereby causing more damage” said head of Dialdirect Insurer Anneli Retief.
Discovery Insurer CEO Anton Ossip added that it was important for both insurers to take a more proactive approach about risk rather than a reactive one.
Also in attendance was Executive Mayor Geoff Makhubo, MMC of Transport Nonhlanhla Makhuba and Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams.
Makhuba noted that there has been a long-term need for such a project in the City of Johannesburg due to the backlog of service delivery.

Makhubo welcomed the project as it translates to the importance of collaboration between the City and corporate citizens.
