Rapist disguises himself as a woman
A man impersonating a woman while allegedly committing a number of rapes in Mpumalanga remains at large.
The unknown man is said to dress up as a woman, Mpumalanga News reported.
This after a 51-year-old woman was repeatedly raped by the suspect in the Pienaar area.
According to the victim, she was busy in her garden when she was approached by the man who wore a long skirt and covered his head. She confirmed that he looked like a woman.
The man allegedly complained of thirst and requested to be shown to a nearby river where he could get water.
He then pulled out a knife and forced the woman to accompany him to the river where he raped her.
The woman also alleged the suspect offered her water to wash herself after raping her, with the intention of repeating the act. He then made off with her cellphone.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Jabu Ndubane confirmed a case has been opened.
“We are going to work tirelessly to ensure that we arrest the suspect because he will hurt lots of unsuspecting women. We hope to make an arrest soon,” said Ndubane.
“Rapists can’t be left to do as they please, hurting women.”
Earlier this month, a housebreaking suspect allegedly fled a Tongaat home in KwaZulu-Natal with a kilogram of meat after raping a resident.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) head Prem Balram said: “The suspect is alleged to have ransacked the residence before forcing the woman into the bedroom where he raped her. The suspect then fled the home after stealing one kilogram of meat. RUSA officers went in search of the suspect. However, no arrests were made.”
