Retail worker, security guard shot dead by robber at Pretoria mall

Police have launched a manhunt for a man who shot and killed two men at Soshanguve Crossing Mall on Friday evening (August 27).

Soshanguve police spokesperson Portia Sebone said it alleged that the victims were trying to assist community members of capturing a man who had just robbed someone outside the mall.

“He robbed a man outside the mall. The man started screaming for help and community members intervened. The man then ran inside the mall where he shot a security officer and a retail worker who were trying to stop him. He managed to flee the scene on foot.”

Sebone said both the victims were certified dead on the scene by emergency medical services.

“No arrest has been made so far and the investigation is underway. We appeal to the community to assist the police with information about the incident to Soshanguve SAPS on 012 730 1300.”

When Rekord approached the mall for comment, a person who identified herself as Thandi said the mall would not comment about the incident.
