School cleaner arrested for alleged sexual assault in KZN

The mother of the pupil alleged that she was at her place of residence when a social worker arrived to visit her.

A cleaner at a school was arrested for sexual assault after allegedly inappropriately touching a pupil at the premises, recently, Phoenix reports.

The mother of the pupil alleged that on September 12 at about 2 pm, she was at her place of residence, when a social worker arrived to visit her.

The social worker then asked the mother if she knew what happened to her child. The mother stated that she was unaware of any incident concerning her child.

The social worker informed the mother that on September 9, the victim was waiting for her friend at school, when the cleaner, known to her, touched her breasts, back and face.

Communications officer of Phoenix SAPS, Captain L Naidoo, confirmed the incident and said: “A case of sexual assault was registered and the suspect was arrested. The suspect will appear in the Verulam Magistrates Court soon.”
