Schoolgirl kidnapped, beaten and raped
Investigations are under way after a 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly kidnapped and raped while on her way to school in KwaZulu-Natal.
Police spokesperson Captain Shooz Magudulela said the teenager was recently abducted by three men she allegedly knew, Newcastle Advertiser reported.
“The suspects took her to one of their homes, where they repeatedly assaulted her with a sjambok, kicked her with their booted feet and hit her with clenched fists,” said Magudulela.
One of the suspects also allegedly raped the young girl and then locked her in the house.
This after a 21-year-old woman was lured to a house by another female who was known to her.
“There were three men waiting for them, and the men assaulted both victims and tried suffocating them with plastic bags,” said Magudulela.
One of the victims managed to escape and went to the police for help. The second victim escaped at a later stage. Magudulela confirmed all suspects were found and arrested.
“They appeared before the Madadeni Magistrates’ Court, and the case was postponed for a formal bail application hearing.”
In November last year, a man was arrested in Zola, Soweto, for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl.
Police said the man allegedly locked the girl inside his house in Zola and went to work. The girl later managed to find a phone and alerted her parents. The 23-year-old man was later arrested.
