Secunda horror: Man drives over wife in front of children, later falls to his death

Three children lost both their parents in a matter of hours after a horrific incident in a Mpumalanga town.

A husband and wife from Secunda died within hours of each other after a domestic dispute last night.

According to local police, the 38-year-old husband drove over his 36-year-old wife in the cul-de-sac in front of their home in Sunset Park – while their children looked on.

He then loaded her into the car and took her to the Mediclinic Highveld Hospital in Trichardt where she died from her injuries.

The police were alerted and opened a murder docket.

While investigating the case, they received information that the husband’s body had been found at the bottom of a gold mine shaft along the road between Evander and Secunda.

He had evidently scaled the structure and reportedly jumped to his death.

According to neighbours, the couple was heard arguing at around 21:00, and a security company was called to the scene.

By the time the security company arrived, the husband had already left with his injured wife.

The couple’s three sons – who witnessed their mom being driven over – are currently staying with family members.

The deceased’s names are being withheld to protect their minor children.
