The two women accused of murdering schoolboy Shahiel Sewpujan (9) abandoned their bail application at the Verulam Magistrates’ Court today.

Kavitha Naicker (31) and her mother, Rajwanthi Haripersadh (54), are believed to have murdered the boy who was found dead inside a manhole in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal, after he had gone missing, Phoenix Sun reported.

Meanwhile, angry community members gathered outside the court on Tuesday, calling for no bailto be given to the two accused.

Protesters reportedly held up placards while chanting “No bail, rot in jail”.

The pair is expected to appear again on March 17, 2015.
