Shot at point-blank: Police appeal for info after brutal Ermelo murder

The identity has been released of a man who was gunned down by brazen a shooter – and his friends say they know the killer.

A horrific murder, captured on CCTV at an Ermelo filling station, shows how a killer casually picks up his spent cartridges after shooting a man in the head several times on Sunday between 01:00 and 02:00.

Police are now appealing to the public to assist with tracking down the suspect.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala says Smangaliso Innocent Nkosi (25) and his friends were refuelling their vehicles when a man, known to the group, approached them.

Without warning, the man walked up to Nkosi and fired a shot at his head. After Nkosi collapses, the man can be seen firing several more shots at him. He then calmly looked around and collected several spent cartridges from the scene, before he walked out of the camera’s range.

Mohlala asks anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to call Detective Sergeant Bheki Masina on 082 373 8389 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Information can also be sent via the My SAPS app.
