Shots fired in harrowing Isipingo Rails armed robbery

The sound of gunfire had staff ducking for cover during an armed robbery at a warehouse in Isipingo Rail, on Friday.

Armed response officers from Blue Security raced to the scene to discover that a cashier had been held up at gunpoint and an undisclosed amount of cash stolen.

According to community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, three suspects had entered the business premises and threatened the cashier.

Two shots were fired by the men inside the building and three more as they fled the scene with the money. The gunmen ran off and were spotted fleeing in a white Nissan Hardbody vehicle.

“Fortunately, innocent civilians and staff were unharmed during the Isipingo Rail incident. The police are investigating,” said Mathios.
