Suspect turns himself over after brother murdered in Mpumalanga

The man had a firearm with him when he handed himself over to police in Thulamahashe.

A 46-year-old man suspected of shooting and killing his brother at Buyisonto Trust on Sunday handed himself over at the Mhala Police Station in Thulamahashe yesterday.

Police were on the hunt for the suspect after he allegedly shot his brother at point-blank range and fled the scene. The victim was certified dead on the scene.

According to provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the man is facing a murder charge and is expected to appear in Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

“He bought a firearm with him and it could have been the one used during the shooting incident. The firearm will undergo ballistic testing as part of the investigation,” said Mdhluli.
