Bushbuckridge police hunts man suspected of killing brother

The victim was certified dead on the scene. The police urge the community to help them find the suspect.

The police are investigating a shooting incident in which a man allegedly shot and killed his 54-year-old brother at Buyisonto Trust on Sunday, November 17.

The victim was certified dead on the scene.

According to a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the suspect allegedly shot his brother point blank, without any argument, and fled the scene on foot.

“The matter was reported to the authorities and upon arrival, the victim was certified dead. The police opened a murder case and immediately launched a manhunt for the suspect. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and will form part of the investigation,” said Mdhluli.

The suspect is still at large and the police urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or send information via the My SAPS app.

“All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous,” he said.

The acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, has strongly condemned this killing and calls on family members to seek professional assistance should they encounter any problems, rather than resorting to violence.
