Suspected hijacker killed and tied to car in Ekurhuleni
Police are investigating the murder of a man who was found tied to a car, with a tyre covering his body.
A suspected hijacker died in what appears to be a mob justice killing in Ekurhuleni.
According to police, on Wednesday night, community members in the Tsenelong Section in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, intercepted a Mercedes-Benz C230 believed to be linked to hijackings in the area.
Kempon Express reports that police responded to a complaint about a suspected hijacker being attacked by a mob.
On arrival, they found a man tied to the damaged vehicle, which had its petrol cap open.
The man was covered with a car tyre, his legs bound with rope, and he showed no signs of life.
Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and declared the unidentified man dead, after which police cordoned off the area as a crime scene.
Thembisa SAPS has opened a murder case, and an investigation is underway.
