Taxi owner shot, killed in Kloof

The man was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

A taxi owner was shot and killed in his car in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal last night.

Police believe the shooting is linked to taxi violence.

Capt Bongumusa Manqele, Pinetown Cluster communications officer, said Bheki Samuel Mthethwa was parked at a bank’s premises on Old Main Road when a white Ford Ranger pulled up next to him.

“Another gold coloured Mercedes Benz pulled up and stopped on the road opposite the deceased’s vehicle.

“A man jumped out of the Mercedes Benz and fired shots at the deceased. The man then jumped into the Ford Ranger and both vehicles sped away.” said Manqele.

Netcare 911’s Shawn Herbst said paramedics responded and found the adult man sustained fatal injuries and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.
