Government is disarming South Africans, says SAGA
John Welch, president of the South African Gunowners’ Association (SAGA), says the Draft Firearms Control Amendment Bill is a move by government to try and effectively disarm South Africans.
If the proposed amendments to the firearms bill are signed into law, thousands of South Africans will not be allowed to obtain a gun licence for self-defence.
Schools to close until June 28 is ‘fake news’ – Department

A fake image, supposedly a screenshot of a newscast, made the rounds online, claiming that schools would be closed until the end of June. However, the Department of Basic Education denounced the image as fake.
“The Department of Basic Education is aware of a manipulated image doing the rounds, purporting to be an announcement from Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga,” wrote a department representative. Read the full article by clicking here.
Primary schools to fully reopen from 26 July

Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga published amended regulations in the Government Gazette yesterday, May 28 which will enable primary schools to return to the daily attendance and traditional timetabling model from 26 July 2021, provided that the risk adjusted differentiated strategy is implemented. Farm murders on the rise – AfriForum
Despite a drop in the number of farm attacks recorded in the 2020/2021 financial year, there was an increase in the number of farm murders, according to AfriForum.

Pretoria star athlete runs world-best time in 50km ultra marathon

Gauteng provincial government reiterates stance on e-toll scrapping

Shortly after Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo said in an interview that e-tolls ‘were a thing of the past in the province’, transport ministry spokesperson Ayanda Allie Paine reiterated that no decision had been made regarding the controversial road tolling system.
