Veteran paramedic found dead

Veteran paramedic Cornelius Craukamp (51) has been found dead, ER24 said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring confirmed with The Citizen that Craukamp’s body was found, but could not reveal any further details.

“Our team is still on site, and more information will be available soon,” he said.

Craukamp was reported missing on Tuesday after he had left for work from his Randburg home the previous morning. He never made it to the office.

According to a short statement released by ER24, Craukamp’s family and friends have been notified about his death.

“Trauma counselling team have been made available, should anyone wish to talk to them,” the private emergency service added.

Craukamp was an ER24 Inter-Hospital Transfer agent in the Emergency Contact Centre, Roodepoort Northsider reported.

He was described as having been a mentor and legend within the emergency services industry.
