VIDEO: Body found at waterfall pool

A body, the third one this year, has been pulled from the Manie Mulder Adventure Centre’s waterfall pool in Roodekrans, on the West Rand.

Video footage shows police divers at the scene on Monday.

Members of the Sector 8 Community Policing Forum (CPF) were called to the waterfall after the naked body was discovered by locals, Krugersdorp News reported.

The drowning is believed to have taken place at about 3.30pm on Monday.

The unidentified man, believed to be in his 30s, allegedly swam in the spring to collect holy water when he drowned.

According to the CPF, this was the eighth body discovered at the kloof in the past three years.

The victim’s clothes and shoes were found neatly placed on the rocks, with a five litre bottle floating along the spring.

In a previous incident, a man was found dead in January.

The man was found standing in an upright position under the water. CPF members confirmed his throat was cut and private parts removed.

Last week, police found the bodies of three Mozambican men in a pond in Embalenhle, near Secunda, Mpumalanga.

Police spokesperson Captain Magonseni Nkosi said the men drowned after a group of four people went for a swim on Monday morning.
