Watch: 10 robbers target KZN jewellery store

A bystander took a video of the robbery at a jewellery store in Westville near Durban.

Ten suspects are on the run after they made of with jewellery and other valuables during a brazen armed robbery at a jewellery store at a mall in Westville.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Constable Thenjisiwe Ngcobo says the robbers held employees at the store at gunpoint at about 10:00 this morning.

“They were robbed of jewellery and a box of vouchers before the suspects fled the scene in their getaway vehicle towards KwaDabeka. No shots were fired,” she says.

A video of the incident posted on social media shows some of the robbers pacing up and down the shop with firearms and bags, while packing items in the bags.

A few moments later, the suspects are seen fleeing the place, and soon after, a security guard gets up from the floor, exits the shop and goes down the escalator.

Ngcobo says a case of robbery will be opened at the Westville police station.
