Watch: KZN community helps foil attempted robbery at clothing store

The Dannhauser community and security guards helped foil an attempted robbery at Rage Clothing, tackling suspects before police arrested them.

Dramatic video footage has emerged of yesterday’s attempted robbery at Rage Clothing store in Dannhauser, KZN.

Northern Natal News reports three men entered the shop in the afternoon and demanded money from an employee. It is not yet clear if they were armed. The employee raised the alarm, and security guards from an adjacent funeral parlour rushed to assist.

Members of the public tackled the suspects and hit them with bricks. One of the men managed to get into a vehicle to escape. Shots were fired at him, and witnesses said he was wounded but still sped off.

The would-be robbers were arrested and required medical treatment.

Community members played a vital role in apprehending the two suspects, who were later identified as being from Ladysmith.

A police investigation is ongoing to determine the full details of the attempted robbery.
