Two men were rushed to hospital last night following a shooting at the intersection of Smith and Kirby roads in Bedfordview, Johannesburg.

The incident which happened shortly after 23:00, is believed to be linked to ongoing taxi violence in Gauteng.

Centre management for Bedford Centre confirmed that the incident was confined to the roadway and did not affect the centre.

“Security kept customers in the centre until it was established that it was safe to leave. Customers were then re-directed away from the affected area and advised of alternative exits and routes that could be used.

“The safety of our customers and tenants are our top priority,” management at Bedford Centre said.
