West Rand: Resident spots lion near Hlanganani Village, Mohlakeng
On Tuesday 18 February, two lions were spotted near the Westonaria Sports Complex.
Yolanda Mavuso, a resident, claimed that on Thursday morning, 20 February, on her way to work at approximately 5.15 am she had spotted a male lion in Mohlakeng near Hlanganani Village, Randfontein Herald reports.
“I saw it near an open patch close to the Village,” Mavuso said.
The media reported on Wednesday, 19 February that two lions had been spotted near the Westonaria Sports Complex on Tuesday night.
Sergeant Audrey Sefara, the Westonaria Police spokesperson said a search had been launched and that the police advised the public to avoid any contact with the animals as they are wild and may be extremely dangerous.
“They should be on the safe side and phone the police station closest to them,” she concluded.
