Woman raped and robbed in Mpumalanga guesthouse

A woman in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, was allegedly raped and robbed when a man broke into the guesthouse while her boyfriend was working the night shift.

The woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the stranger had climbed through the window and ordered her to keep quiet and sleep. He then began searching through her drawers and belongings, Witbank News reported.

He allegedly used her Nike sports bag into which he stuffed her valuables, which included a laptop, a pair of sneakers and Timberland boots.

The suspect allegedly then forced her to undress and raped her as she cried, for which he used a condom, apparently to avoid leaving traces of DNA as evidence.

She said he made her to walk outside to open the front gate for him. The victim added she saw a van with security guards and started screaming for help, but they did not stop. The alleged rapist then fled.

Cases of rape and robbery have been reported to the Witbank Police Station.

In March, a Pretoria man was allegedly raped by two men who attacked him while walking home.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Muller said the victim also had his phone stolen.

Rietfontein resident Tanya Cassell said her husband Walter and their gardener Sam Moseki caught the perpetrators in the act.

Cassell said the two saw one of the suspects fastening his trousers. The man allegedly told them not to mind them, as they were busy having sex. The other man then put his trousers on, and both walked away. The victim was then found in the bush and explained that the two men robbed, assaulted and raped him.

The police’s sexual crimes unit is investigating a case of rape and robbery.
