Woman’s throat slit, body dumped at Inanda sports ground
The body of a woman was discovered at a sports ground in Inanda, on Monday morning.
The woman, who was believed to have been in her 20s, was found with her hands bound and her throat slit.
“On November 2 at 7am, the body of the unknown female was found by the community members at the sports ground at Newtown A with her throat slit and hands tied. A case of murder was opened at Inanda police station for investigation,” said provincial police spokeswoman, Col Thembeka Mbele.
She also called on anyone with information about the incident or anyone, who could help in identifying the unknown white female to please contact their local police.
The deceased was described as a thin woman with dark hair. She was dressed in black jacket, red T-shirt and black shoes.
The Inanda area is often the scene of violent crime. In crime statistics released in July by police minister, Bheki Cele, it was revealed that Inanda has both the highest number of reported rapes in the province and the third highest number of murders.
At the time, Cele stated that most of the people, who become victims in Inanda are preyed upon when returning from shebeens.
“A case of murder was opened at Inanda police station for investigation. Anyone with information on the incident or the identity of the deceased is urged to contact their local police station or Crime Stop on 08600-10111,” said concluded Mbele.
