Prioritise safety and buckle up for life

Embracing safety measures like seatbelts and airbags is crucial for secure driving.

To ensure vehicle safety features operate effectively, understanding how driver behaviour influences their efficiency is imperative. Eugene Herbert, CEO of MasterDrive, highlights that airbags work in tandem with various restraints in modern vehicle safety systems.

Modern vehicles feature airbags as a key safety component, substantially reducing the risk of injury or fatality in the event of a collision.

Front airbags protect occupants from frontal collision impact, while side and curtain airbags safeguard against side-impact collisions. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), airbags play a significant role in saving lives, and reducing fatalities in different crash scenarios.

To maximise airbag effectiveness, drivers play a crucial role by adopting proper seating positions, maintaining distance from the steering wheel, and using seatbelts. Herbert emphasises the importance of sitting upright and avoiding certain positions that may hinder airbag deployment. Responsible driving practices, such as ensuring proper passenger seating and not placing children in the front seat, contribute to airbag safety.

Herbert concludes that understanding airbag mechanics and adhering to recommended guidelines significantly enhance the safety of both drivers and passengers.
