In a departure from the norm, Adam LZ, a YouTuber and enthusiast, has transformed the Nissan R32 GT-R into an unconventional off-roader, creating the world’s first ‘Safari GTR’.
Inspired by the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, Adam initiated the project using a $10 000 R32 GT-R donor car, which he promptly fitted with a modified RB26 inline-six engine boasting 500 horsepower at the wheels.

The Safari GT-R boasts a custom long-travel suspension providing an impressive 10.5-inches of ground clearance while riding on chunky 17-inch Rays wheels with Nitto Nomad Grappler tyres. All of this compromises cornering performance for versatility off of the beaten path. An aftermarket selectable four-wheel-drive controller offers versatility, enabling extra traction on dirt roads or a switch to rear-wheel-drive for drifting.

Custom features include a powder-coated bash bar with LED fog lights on the front end and a powder-coated Nismo roof rack with fog lights on the roof. To achieve the roof rack, the team had to cut directly into the roof, as the R32 didn’t come factory-equipped with one. The vehicle sports an eye-catching olive green wrap, and the interior is fortified with a full roll cage, custom seats, and camouflage four-point harnesses.

The entire build was documented in a series of videos on Adam LZ’s YouTube channel, highlighting the transformation that took less than three weeks. Future plans for the project include additional suspension travel, upgraded brakes, and potentially a snorkel for handling even deeper puddles, showcasing the ongoing evolution of this unique off-road GT-R.
