The MX-5 concept vehicle, dubbed the Mazda Spirit Racing RS, envisions a more capable vehicle purposed for use on the road and track.
Development of the concept has already begun, and efforts are directed at improving and refining the suspension and aerodynamics of the MX-5. Mazda relies on the experience and knowledge gained from the firm’s Super Taikyu racing endeavours, which not only affects decisions regarding the concept’s exterior but also its interior. Compared to the vanilla, road-going MX-5, the Mazda Sprirt Racing RS is distinguished by elements such as its sticker-laden body kit, Recaro bucket seats, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and Rays wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone Potenzas.
Essentially a sibling to the Mazda Spirit Racing RS concept, the Mazda Spirit Racing 3 concept has followed the same development ethos as the race-ready MX-5.
Mazda aims to improve the suspension and aerodynamic qualities of the Mazda 3 hatchback. The firm aims to develop a high-performance model that aligns with the values of the Mazda Spirit Racing sub-brand, which are ‘speed’ and ‘texture’. Much like the RS concept, the Mazda Spirit Racing 3 stands out from its standard configuration by way of its enhanced bodywork from the pronounced front splitter, enlarged side skirts, and an aggressive carbon fibre spoiler. It also wears the same livery and footwear as its Spirit Racing sibling.
