Motorsport talent knows no bounds and Evan Hutchison embodies this versatility. Former special vehicle champion and SA Rally-Raid CEO, Archie Rutherford, expressed enthusiasm about Hutchison’s return, stating, “Motorsport has a habit of attracting multi-talented people, and, in this respect, Evan ticks all the boxes.”

With seven national titles in the class A and special vehicle categories, coupled with a National Rally Championship title, Hutchison boasts a remarkable career as both a driver and team manager in the national cross-country championship.

“I am passionate about motorsport and very excited at the opportunity to put something back into the sport that has given me so much,” shared Hutchison.

Hutchison’s responsibilities as race director encompass a broad spectrum, focusing on maintaining the SA Rally-Raid Championship’s esteemed position in South African motorsport. This involves adapting to technological advancements, enhancing relationships with stakeholders and partners, and ensuring top-notch monitoring tools are in place.

Motorsport is a thriving global industry contributing significantly to economies, research and development, and community enrichment. The Dakar Rally, the world’s toughest motorsport event, serves as a platform for South African manufacturers, competitors, and technical crews to showcase their global competitiveness.

Archie Rutherford emphasised the championship’s commitment to elevating the sport and building on its success. The 2024 SA Rally-Raid Championship, featuring seven rounds, kicks off on April 19 and 20 in Mpumalanga with the Nkomazi 400.
