2025 Nissan GT-R rumoured to be the last

According to inside sources, Nissan plans to unveil the 2025 GT-R in the next few days.

This may be the final chapter of the R35 generation of GT-R as a rumour is circulating that 1 500 units of limited 2025 model will signal the end of production for the iconic Japanese model.

Nissan is rumoured to bid farewell to the R35 generation Nissan GT-R in the coming days, with a limited 2025 model year release. Despite its age since its 2007 debut, the GT-R remains a formidable performer in the automotive world. However, Nissan appears to be ready to conclude its production run with one last hurrah ahead of what will likely be an electrified replacement.

According to inside sources cited by Japanese publications, Nissan plans to unveil the final 2025 model year GT-R today.

It’s speculated that only 1 500 units will be produced, with around 300 expected to be Nismo models. Details remain scarce whether these will be international or Japanese domestic units. It is unlikely any significant changes will be imparted into the model, with minor aero tweaks and styling adjustments likely being the most prominent updates.

Should the rumour be true, it model would potentially feature commemorative touches, such as special badges or decals to the sports model. Mechanically, the regular variant is expected to retain the same 3.8l, twin-turbo V6 engine, with 415kW and 632N.m, while the GT-R Nismo could boast 447kW and 651N.m as seen in the 2024 model.

What comes next in the GT-R storyline will likely be an R36-based model resembling the recently unveiled Hyper Force. Displayed at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023 for the first time, the wild-looking concept is touted to be the 1 000kW electric replacement.
