Following the mid-cycle refresh of its Clio supermini, Renault has imparted the Captur with similar treatment which embraces the latest design language. Updated LED daytime running lights and a redesigned front fascia, complemented by a restyled diamond logo are chief of the external updates. The rear receives subtly revised ‘C’ shaped taillights now boasting different graphics, and Renault has also modernised its badge on the tailgate, bidding farewell to the faux exhaust tips.

Inside, the 2024 Captur features a familiar yet upgraded interior, including a larger 10.4-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system and a 10.25-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster. Renowned for its sustainable approach, Renault has removed all leather and chrome from the interior, opting for upholstery made from recycled materials like hemp. Another departure from the norm is the introduction of a new Esprit Alpine trim to replace the RS Line at the top of the line-up. Further exterior updates include Renault’s 14 two-tone paint combination choices with wheel sizes ranging from 17 inches for the base model to 19 inches for the Esprit Alpine.

Powertrain options range from a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine producing 67kW, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, to a larger four-cylinder 1.3-litre turbo unit with outputs of 104kW or 119kW, mated to a manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission, respectively. Alternatively, a hybrid powertrain features a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre gasoline engine producing 70kW, working with a 36kW electric motor and a 1.2kWh battery for a combined output of 108kW, with electric mode available for city driving.

As diesel engines phase out, Renault offers an LPG variant with a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbo engine and a six-speed manual gearbox, capable of covering 1 100km when both gasoline and LPG tanks are full. Set to rival other compact crossovers like the Ford Puma, the updated Renault Captur is scheduled for sale in Europe later this year following production in Spain at the Valladolid factory.
