Action-packed kart racing: Gauteng and Cape regions deliver thrilling events

Catch the highlights from the Rotax Max Challenge races held simultaneously in Vereeniging and Killarney on April 20.

The Rotax Max Challenge treated karting enthusiasts to an exhilarating Saturday, April 20 with major regional rounds hosted in Gauteng and Cape Town on the same day.

Cape standout Jason Coetzee dominated the field in Vereeniging, outpacing local favourites Bradley Liebenberg, Karabo Malemela and Masters winner Bjorn Roos. Meanwhile, Joseph Oelz emerged victorious in Cape Town over Sebastian Boyd, clinching the top spot alongside Matthew Wadeley and Masters winner Roy Gruer.

The action continued with Philippe Chapat securing the Gauteng Vets title, while Llewellyn Sutherland triumphed in the Reef Clubmans category. Gabi Lanfear impressed in the Cape of Good Hope Clubmans, securing a well-deserved victory.

Liam Wharton won the Micro in the Western Cape.

In the Senior Max division, Charl Visser claimed a triple victory in Cape Town, while Kent Swartz emerged triumphant in Vereeniging after a closely contested battle. The high school Junior Max races showcased female talent, with Gianna Pascoal and Spice Mailula impressing in Vereeniging.  Sebastiano Human and Brodi Dowling shone in Cape Town and Vereeniging respectively.

The Micro Max races witnessed intense competition, with Liam Wharton securing victory in Cape Town and Matthew Shuttleworth dominating in Vereeniging.

Bambino winner Alonzo de Oliveira.

The day concluded with Alonzo de Oliveira and Caleb Lingeveldt emerging victorious in the Bambino category in Vereeniging and Cape Town respectively.

With the karting stars gearing up for the second round of the South African National Rotax Max Challenge at iDube Kart Track on May 4, expect more thrilling action and fierce competition.
