Electrified Lamborghini Urus SE revealed with 588kW!

Billed as the world’s first plug-in-hybrid super SUV, Lamborghini has whipped the wraps off the Urus SE.

Signifying a ‘new chapter’ in Lamborghini’s history, the Urus SE is equipped with a plug-in-hybrid powertrain, comprising a ‘re-engineered’ version of the standard, internal combustion Urus’ 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, which, here, has been tuned to produce 456kW and 800Nm of torque, and a 141kW/483Nm electric motor.

The latter, permanent-magnet synchronous unit, which is coupled with a 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery (allowing for an all-electric range of 60 km when fully charged), has been fitted to the inside of the eight-speed automatic transmission.

“With the Urus SE, we’ve taken another step towards the future in line with our ‘Direzione Cor Tauri’ strategy, moving ahead with the electrification of the range and the path toward decarbonisation that began with the introduction of the Revuelto super sports car,” said Stephan Winkelmann, the Lamborghini chairperson and CEO.

In total, the petrol-electric engine churns out a whopping 588kW and 950Nm, available from 6 000r/min and 1 750r/min (to 5 750r/min), respectively. According to the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based manufacturer, these outputs allow the Urus SE to complete the obligatory 0-100km/h sprint in ‘just’ 3.4s, a tenth-of-a-second quicker than the Urus S and 0.1s slower than the Urus Performante. In addition, Lamborghini claims a 0-200km/h sprint time of 11.2s. The maximum speed is rated at 312km/h (7km/h and 6km/h more than the Urus S and Urus Performante, respectively).

“The underlying mission of the project was clear: To offer state-of-the-art performance combined with the uncompromising character typical of Lamborghini’s DNA … The Urus SE is positioned at the top of its class in terms of being fun to drive and for its driving dynamics. It’s a vehicle that harmoniously combines different qualities: absolute comfort and at the same time performance and fun-to-drive, ensuring an experience like no other,” said Lamborghini chief technical officer Rouven Mohr.
