A slick-shifting gearbox for the Tiggo 4 Pro

Chery values customer feedback, and the introduction of the dual-clutch gearbox in the Tiggo 4 Pro reflects this commitment.
“Our engagement with existing Chery Tiggo 4 Pro owners revealed a demand for a sportier transmission and improved fuel efficiency. In response, our engineers have incorporated the dual-clutch transmission [DCT], expanding the T4 line-up to attract customers seeking this advanced gearbox,” says Mark Ma, assistant general manager of Chery South Africa.
The DCT not only provides an engaging driving experience for a family SUV, but also offers significant fuel-saving benefits. Durability tests show that the new transmission can save nearly half a litre of fuel per 100km. On South African roads, it saves approximately 1.6 litres per 100km, depending on driving style and conditions. This fuel efficiency is particularly noticeable in the turbocharged 108kW engine variant.
Additionally, a new software update for the Tiggo 4 Pro CVT version is being tested. Early results indicate a significant improvement in fuel consumption, with the update set to be available to customers soon.
Chery has also introduced interior and technology enhancements with the new transmission. The updated centre console, inspired by the popular Tiggo 7 Pro, includes extra storage space, a 15W wireless charging pad (Elite model only) and a touchscreen air conditioning control for dual zones.
The Elite SE version of the Tiggo 4 Pro with DCT features a high-resolution infotainment screen with offline navigation, an RDS-equipped radio and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
With the addition of the Tiggo 4 Pro with DCT, the entire Tiggo Pro range now offers this option, including the seven-speed DCT in the Tiggo Pro 7 Max and Tiggo Pro 8 Max models.
The new Tiggo 4 Pro LiT DCT is available now for R382 900, and the Tiggo 4 Pro Elite DCT retails for R415 900. Both models come with a 1 000 000km/10-year engine warranty, a five-year/150 000km warranty and a five-year/60 000km service plan.
