All-new BMW M5 reveal date confirmed for July

July 19 will mark the official unveiling of the highly anticipated BMW M5 at the 2024 BMW M Festival in Poland. This two-day extravaganza goes beyond a static reveal, offering a thrilling immersion into the world of BMW M on the ultimate expression of sedan performance from the Bavarian automaker.

Similar to the South African iteration of the motoring festival, attendees can get behind the wheel of the latest M and i cars on the track with expert instructors, or even hone their drifting skills in dedicated courses. Undoubtedly, the star of the show at the edition in Poland will be the introduction of the new M5. This event will be the first opportunity to see the car shed its camouflage and reveal its final, aggressive form.
Rumours suggest the M5 will borrow the powertrain from the BMW XM SUV. That means a monstrous combination of a twin-turbocharged 4.4l V8 engine working in tandem with an electric motor. This brutal partnership is expected to deliver a staggering 535kW of power, a significant leap from the outgoing M5 Competition’s already impressive 460kW.

While official details remain under wraps, reports suggest the M5 might have a slightly smaller battery pack compared to the XM (around 18.6kWh). This setup should still provide an electric-only range of roughly 68km, allowing for silent cruising and fuel savings.
The M Festival isn’t just about the M5 reveal. The firm states that gearheads can experience the thrill of racing simulators, take exhilarating helicopter rides, and witness a parade showcasing the finest M cars ever produced.
