Volkswagen Group Africa expands portfolio with Ducati
Volkswagen Group Africa has acquired Ducati's retail operations in South Africa, marking a significant expansion of its brand portfolio.

Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) officially took over Ducati’s local retail operations in South Africa on January 1, 2025.
This move adds Ducati to VWGA’s existing portfolio of brands, which includes Volkswagen passenger cars, Audi and Volkswagen commercial vehicles.
VWGA will now manage all aspects of Ducati’s South African operations, including retail sales, imports and the distribution of parts and accessories. The company plans to expand Ducati’s reach through a network of dealerships in key regions, including Gauteng, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
Simphiwe Nghona, head of sales and marketing at VWGA, expressed confidence in the company’s ability to serve Ducati’s loyal customer base. “We are confident that the current and future Ducati clients will positively benefit from our established sales and after sales processes,” said Nghona.
VWGA has set ambitious growth targets for Ducati, aiming to achieve double-digit market share in South Africa by the end of 2026. This growth will be driven by the introduction of exciting new models to the South African market over the next two years.
Tertius Cronje was appointed to head the Ducati brand in South Africa. With his experience in the automotive and motorcycle retail sectors, Cronje is well-equipped to lead the brand’s expansion in the South African market.
