The fourth-generation Dzire, based on the Swift, is aimed squarely at buyers who want ‘comfort, efficiency and a usable boot’.

On the outside, the styling finds it more of an autonomous product, with very little styling influence from its hatchback counterpart. It debuts a sharp front-end which includes a completely new grille (black on GA models, piano black with chrome on GL+) and halogen projector headlights as opposed to reflectors. LED tail lights feature on the rear and, on GL+ versions, a strip of chrome linking the rear clusters. GA models ride on 14-inch steel wheels, while the high-spec GL+ gets black 15-inch alloys. Buyers can choose from seven colours, including Alluring Blue, Gallant Red and Nutmeg Brown.

Inside, the cabin mirrors the Swift’s dashboard layout, with a beige and black colour scheme. Suzuki has employed a mixture of both analogue and LCD for the displays, tilt-adjustable steering, and various storage cubbies scattered about the cabin. In the back, passengers benefit from a centre armrest with cupholders and their own air vents. Standard kit across the GA and GL+ includes electric windows, digital aircon, USB ports (front and rear), a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and hill hold control. The GL+ throws in a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse camera, cruise control and a multifunction steering wheel. With the added volume to the rear, boot space is now claimed at a generous 378l.

Powering the Dzire is a new 1.2l, three-cylinder petrol engine, delivering 60kW and 112N.m. Another meagre figure is just 4.4l/100km, which Suzuki claims is what consumption it can achieve driving a mixed route. Like the Swift, gearbox options include a five-speed manual or a CVT.

On the safety front, all models come standard with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, Isofix mounts and pretensioning seatbelts. The Dzire recently scored five stars for adult protection and four for child protection in Global NCAP testing.

Suzuki Dzire pricing

While unconfirmed, we have unearthed the above pricing which would likely include Suzuki’s five-year/200 000km warranty and a four-year/60 000km service plan.
