New Renault Clio debuts with bold styling and hybrid power

Packed with advanced tech, more space and efficient engines, the latest Clio signals a fresh chapter for Renault’s popular hatchback.

Sporting striking exterior design, upgraded tech and new powertrains, Renault has whipped the wraps off the new Clio.

Renault has lifted the covers off the brand-new Clio at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, with the sixth-generation model featuring a striking design, fresh tech and a duo of new engine options.

The sixth-generation Clio’s exterior styling is quite a departure from its predecessor’s, with the new model’s sheet metal sporting more angular styling overall. Perhaps the most significant design changes have been applied to the front end, where the brand-new grille is flanked by fresh headlamps, and striking LED daytime-running lights have been incorporated into the more pronounced bumper. New split taillamps can be found round back.

The box-fresh Clio’s sculpted bodywork measures 4 116mm in length and 1 768mm in width, making it 66mm longer and, interestingly, slightly narrower (down 30mm) than the outgoing model. The wheelbase has been stretched by 8mm to 2 591mm. The claimed boot capacity remains unchanged, at 391l. Though, Renault says the latter is powertrain-dependent.

The new Clio was revealed with the choice of two powertrains: an 85kW/190N.m 1.2l turbo-triple that’s exclusively coupled with a five-speed manual transmission and a 1.8l, four-cylinder hybrid that produces 118kW. Renault claims an average fuel consumption of 5l/100km for the ICE-only drivetrain, while the new-energy model, which is capable of driving in all-electric mode at up to 80% of the time in urban environments, sips a low 3.9l/100km on the combined cycle. (As a reminder, the current local Clio lineup is exclusively available with a 1l, three-cylinder turbopetrol, which churns out 74kW and 160N.m of torque.)

Stepping inside, the new Clio seen here sports a dual 10.1-inch displays – for infotainment and instrumentation, respectively. Running on Google, the OpenR Link setup incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes a variety of built-in apps, such as Google Maps. Owners can also access music and video streaming platforms such as Amazon Music and Prime Video.
