Hennops Revival founder wins international photo competition
The French NPO, Champ d’actions, hosted the international photo competition with the theme: Pollution of our rivers.
A photo of Tarryn Johnston, taken by Jacques Nelles, posing between the rubbish found in her beloved Hennops River, Centurion, was selected by the public worldwide as the winner of an international photo competition.
Johnston is the founder of Hennops Revival, a non-profit and public benefit organisation, with the focus on reviving, restoring and healing the Hennops River in collaboration with the government.
The French NPO, Champ d’actions, hosted the international photo competition with the theme: Pollution of our rivers.
On Wednesday the organisation informed Johnston and posted on their website that they were “more than pleased to present you the winner of the photo contest: Tarryn Johnston – Madness”.
“We are so happy with this result and have a huge respect for this person. Founder of the Hennops Revival Association, Tarryn Johnston, has been fighting for years to protect, clean and solve the pollution problems of the Hennops River, which is submerged by waste.”
Furthermore that the numbers collected even exceeded the requirement of the competition, as more than 1.5 million kilograms of river waste has been collected thus far.
“Congrats on your fight, Mrs Tarryn Johnston.”
Rekord reported earlier Johnston’s photo was selected from more than 600 entries worldwide, and only 10 made it to the final stage. The final stage of the competition, namely the public voting phase, took place last week.
Johnston was thrilled at the happy news and said a big thank you to all participants and jury members, as well as to all the partners of Hennops Revival.
The French NPO thanked “their Godfather and President of the jury Laurent Baheux” as well as the 13 impressive members of the jury.
