Manhunt launched after lions were mutilated outside Tzaneen

Police in Tzaneen police have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in the unlawful hunting of specially protected animals.

The suspects allegedly cut the fence and entered the lion pen at Letaba River Lodge outside Tzaneen on Wednesday, Letaba Herald reported.

“Three brown male lions valued at over R900 000 were found yesterday morning, mutilated with heads and limbs severed,” said provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

No arrests have yet been made and police investigations continue.
