Police advised members of the public to refrain from buying stolen goods, as it contributed to the level of crime.

Douglasdale police in Randburg have launched a manhunt for suspects who broke into the Lonehill Red Square shop.

According to the police report, the shop manager received a call from a security guard about the alarm that had gone off at the shop at about 6am on January 30, Randburg Sun reported.

The manager went to investigate and found that the shop had been broken into. Perfumes worth an estimated value of R600 000 had been stolen.

“Police preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used a white Volkswagen Caddy with a false registration number to load the perfumes,” said Douglasdale police spokesperson Captain Mpho Kgasoane.

Police advised members of the public to refrain from buying stolen goods, as it contributed to the level of crime.

“‘We also appeal to members of the community who have information that might assist police investigations to call us,” she said.
