WATCH: Truck rolls down embankment, leaves one dead

The truck, carrying a load of Parmalat milk cartons, rolled down a ditch at 2.27am on Friday.

A truck overturned and rolled down an embankment at about 2.20am on Friday after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle in Comaro, on the N12 Eastbound, Comaro Chronicle reported.

The fire department arrived on the scene, where they were directed by bystanders to the scene of the accident. Only one lane remained open, and the accident caused major traffic delays as far back as Xavier from about 6.30am.

Local authorities advised the scene would be cleared by 9.30am and all lanes reopened.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson Daine Jones said upon further investigations, only one fatality was reported.

“The truck rolled down the ditch and was carrying a load of Parmalat milk cartons. The fire department used hydraulics and special equipment to free the driver’s body from the truck, and he was then taken to a morgue,” said Jones.
