Woman arrested after killing her 7-day-old baby in hospital
The mother allegedly grabbed the baby from the incubator and struck the nurse with it.

Police in Magatle outside Lebowakgomo, in Limpopo, reacted swiftly after receiving an alert about the murder and arrested the woman, Review Online reports.
The suspect gave birth to the baby in the Zebediela Hospital, and the baby was still under nursing care in the children’s unit.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said: “The woman entered the room claiming she wanted to breastfeed the baby. The suspect grabbed the baby from the incubator, assaulted the nurse with the baby and struck its head on the floor. The baby died instantly.”

The suspect will appear before the Magatle Magistrates’ Court soon on a charge of murder.
“The motive behind this incident is still unknown,” Ngoepe concluded.
