Another job scam targets unemployed youth

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has warned the public against a hoax advert doing the rounds on social media.
The advert urges members of the public to apply for a traffic trainee positions at the RTMC, Northglen News reported.
“This advert is fake and does not originate from the RTMC. We are warning the unemployed job seekers not to fall for this scam, which has been circulated on the internet and through WhatsApp messages,” the department said in a statement.
According to the department, the advert appears legitimate, but it does not contain the correct contact details.
The brazen advert even bears the RTMC and National Traffic Police logos.
“We totally distance ourselves from the advertisement and urge communities to be vigilant, and not fall for criminal activities that will leave them bankrupt.”
The are currently only 14 Traffic Training Colleges that are approved by the minister of transport in terms of the National Road Traffic Act. Only two of these colleges are in KwaZulu-Natal: KZN Traffic Training College Pietermaritzburg and Durban Metro Police Department Academy Durban.
The minimum requirements at the colleges are:
1. Grade 12 certificate
2. Code B driving licence
3. South African ID
4. Medically fit, not older than 35 years
5. No criminal record.
