EFF women do not care what Ntsiki Mazwai thinks of them – Sixo Gcilishe

This comes after she shared her thoughts on the party's so-called feminist identity.

National communications manager of the Economic Freedom Fighters Sixo Gcilishe has hit back at Ntsiki Mazwai’s claims that the party contains “some power-hungry females who are willing to protect patriarchy to protect their positions”.

Mawai’s criticism is the latest contribution in an ongoing debate about the party’s identity – namely whether or not it qualifies as a feminist organization.

The debate began after EFF MP and #FeesMustFall activist Naledi Chirwa tweeted a quote which she attributed to the party’s deputy president Floyd Shivambu and the quote reads as follows: “The EFF is a feminist organisation and we are unapologetic about that.”

Mazwai then chimed in by stating that she did not think the organisation was feminist.

She continued her contribution the next day by suggesting that EFF leader Julius Malema and Shivambu take a step back from their leadership positions ‏and allow women to fill them.

Mazwai added that she just wanted to see women in EFF leadership who did not grovel to Julius for positions.

Chirwa rebutted Mazwai’s suggestion, calling it demeaning.

The party’s communications manager then weighed in with a thread of her own, stating that “EFF Women do not care what Ntsiki Mazwai thinks of them” before adding that Mazwai had “somehow taken a decision to undermine women in the EFF, barking orders”.

An unimpressed Gcilishe then shared her observation that Mazwai was ill-informed.

According to her, Mazwai is not worthy and has never been worthy to lead the EFF Women’s Command.

“Nothing good can come from Ntsiki Mazwai for the EFF,” concluded Gcilishe.

Mazwai ended up blocking Gcilishe.

Mazwai has refused to continue engaging her but continues to tweet about the issue.
